Press Release Summary: Halloween is more popular than St. Valentine\'s Day, according to a survey into national occasions and their appeal in society conducted by costumeretailer Moon Costumes.
Press Release Body: Durham, North Carolina, 7 September 2007 ( ExpressPressRelease ) - -Halloween is now more popular than St. Valentine\'s Day, according to a survey conducted on behalf of Durham-based Moon Costumes. The study into the popularity of occasions was based on spending habits and the scope of appeal of each festival, seeing Halloween come out on top of the secular festivals.
The study found that amongst children, Halloween was seen to be the number one secular festival of the year, beating its closest competitor St.Valentine\'s Day on the grounds of its broader appeal.
Erik Aronesty from Moon Costumes agreed with the findings of the survey, suggesting that this is only reflective of a growing trend towards Halloween as the number one occasion in the year.\"Halloween has always appealed to children, and its appeal for adults is widening every year. Whilst I\'m not in the least surprised by the findings,it does suggest that people are starting to acknowledge Halloween as the number one holiday.
The study found that whilst Halloween has the broadest appeal overall, St.Valentine\'s Day is preferred by the 20-29 and 30-39 year old age categories.
